The Federated Endowment
Fund of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit is host-
ing a conference on personal
planning March 22 at the Max
M. Fisher Building.
The 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. lun-
cheon will feature seminars on
investing, estate planning, long-
term health care, hospice care
issues, organ donations and
ways to contribute to the com-
munity while ensuring the
strength of personal assets and
income.
Frederic L. Bloch, managing
director of Sanford C. Bernstein
& Co., Inc. investment advisors,
will deliver the keynote address
over lunch. He will discuss "Be-
tween a Rock and a Hard Place
— Investing in Today's Low
Rate, High Tax Enviroment,"
which will focus on investment
planning strategies.

Lap, CPA, stockbroker, and
registered investment advisor,
in a program 7:30 p.m. March
8 which will teach how to eval-
uate risk and look for value in
securities and mutual funds
During the program, titled
"Value Investing for Safety and
Great Return," DeLap will dis-
cuss the differences between
junk bonds and treasury bonds,
along with the specific risks that
investors expose themselves to
when purchasing them. He will
also advise investors how to de-
termine the value of an invest-
ment by measuring risk against
return, an approach that will
maximize portfolio return.
