At a time in history when people are being sued by each other as never before, it is important to consider protecting your- self and all you have. This type of policy increases liability protection on exist- ing auto, homeowners, or watercraft policies. It pro- vides overall protection when ordinary insurance might not provide pro- tection. H adassah Sloan of St. Clair Shores wanted to know what employment opportunities in interna- tional trade and export mar- keting are available in Israel. She's planning to make aliyah in May of 1995. Detroiter Miriam Ehrenreich wanted to know where, when and how she should go about finding a bank job in Israel. Ms. Sloan, Ms. Ehrenreich and nearly 50 others met at the Agency for Jewish Education building on Sunday to partici- pate in a 14-city satellite up-link with Israel. The purpose of the event was to discuss employ- ment and business opportu- nities. Also included in the show: short videos on the economic situation in Israel and work placement successes. The two-way broadcast, sponsored locally by the Michi- gan/Israel Connection and the American Zionist Movement, allowed participants in cities like Detroit, Toronto, Miami, Chicago and Boston to ask questions to experts in the fields of small business, computers, medicine, employment, and tourism. Ms. Ehrenreich had the op- portunity to ask her question and was satisfied with the an- swer she received. But because the hour-long program ran out of time, Ms. Sloan did not get to ask hers. She and others who wanted to ask questions will have the chance to get a faxed response. Event organizers were hoping each community would be able to ask two-three questions, but because ques- tions and answers were longer than expected, most cities could only ask one or two. Questions for the panel ranged from a Chinese acupuncturist in California who The purpose of the event was to discuss employment and business opportunities in Israel. wanted to know if he could practice in Israel to a man who wanted to know what opportu- nities existed in the food and catering industry. Those watching were told that there is a tremendous boom in high-tech jobs in Israel and that the employment rate has steadily improved. The only decrease mentioned was in housing construction, which de- clined slightly. Detroit was included in the up-link after the Michigan/Is- rael Connection expressed an interest in participating several months ago. D
