Back In March
A "Matzah Factory," offering
youngsters a hands-on Passover
experience, will be sponsored by
the Jewish Community Center
of Washtenaw County in coop-
eration with Chabad House on
March 17, 20 and 21.
Area pre-schoolers and
grade-school children can roll
out a ball of dough and bake it
in a pizza oven to create a piece
of matzah. Children will also
view a Passover video.
Rabbi Aharon Goldstein, di-
rector of Chabad House, will op-

staff and volunteers will be su-
pervising the children.

Reparations
Not Counted
Washington (JTA) — A bill
that would exempt war
reparations from being
counted as personal income
when calculating federal aid
has moved forward in Con-
gress.
The legislation received
unanimous support Feb. 23
at a hearing of the House
Governmental Operations
Subcommittee on Human
Resources and Intergovern-
mental Affairs.
Legislation was introduced
last April in response to the
case of Fanny Schlomowitz,
83, of Phoenix, a Holocaust
survivor who nearly lost her
federally subsidized housing
because she received war
reparations from Germany.
