Over the last two years Moies Chetim and Yad Ezra have combined efforts to help feed hungry Jewish families for Passover in our community. Last year we distributed over 24,000 pounds of food to 964 families without any cost to our clients. Unfortunately, the number of hungry families is growing constantly and we anticipate assisting over 1100 families this year. 1 . We would appreciate any financial assistance that you could provide to help ensure that no one in the Jewish community goes hungry this Passover. Contributions for this project can be made payable and sent to either MOIES CHETIM (23410 Radclift, Oak Park, MI 48237) or YAD EZRA (26641 Harding, Oak Park, MI 48237). Please help us provide the less-fortunate with the means to experience a joyous holiday by supporting our project. If you need further information, please call Moles Chetim (968-6738) or Yad Ezra (548-3663). Thank you, Gam t - a 09 6 Ann Kaplan Moies Chetim Project Chairperson Ric d A. Eileen Goliz ©1994 Rabin Urges Europe To Aid Boycott End Strasbourg, France (JTA) — Israeli Prime Minister Yit- zhak Rabin called on Europe this week to help eliminate the Arab boycott against Israel and to increase its in- volvement in the Middle East peace process. In an address to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe here, Mr. Rabin said that "Israel has made concessions in return for the abolition of the boycott" but that "the boycott is still used as an il- legitimate weapon against Israel." "Europe's resolve and our joint cooperation can halt such actions once for all," he said. In recent days, there have been hopeful signs that the Arab League may consider abolishing its boycott against Israel, which was es- tablished before the foun- ding of the Jewish state in 1948. The foreign minister of the Persian Gulf state of Qatar announced during a news conference with U.S. Secre- tary of State Warren Christopher that "we are ready to take some actions" regarding the termination of the boycott. And last week, the Arab League's secretary-general, Esmat Abdel-Meguid, told U.S. Commerce Secretary Ron Brown that the league will consider rescinding its so-called secondary and ter- tiary boycotts at its next ministerial meeting in Mar- ch. The secondary boycott im- poses trading sanctions against companies doing business with Israel. The tertiary boycott imposes sanctions on companies that trade with firms that have broken the terms of the secondary boycott. Mr. Rabin, in his speech before the Parliamentary Assembly, also called on Europe to increase its in- volvement in the Middle East peace process. ❑ I fear not punishment but to deserve punishment. —Ludwig Boerne
