Israel's Ran
Lists Software

Ran, a member of the Rad
Bynet Group in Israel, has de-
veloped a new type of technolo-
gy used to increase significantly
the rate of computer data trans-
fer in standard networks.
Ran has submitted a request
in the United States to register
its RunWay technology as a
patent. The technology, which
is already in use in a number of
places in Israel and abroad, will
be officially announced next
month. Ran said data transfer
between Macintosh computers
increases 400 percent when
RunWay technology is used.

Hong Kong Cable
Buys System

Decsys, a subsidiary of Digital
Israel, has completed installa-
tion of a cable television station
management program for
Wharf Cable in Hong Kong.
Decsys said the contract was
worth $5 million.
The system at Wharf Cable,
called Wizard, currently has
20,000 subscribers, and the sys-
tem is expected to serve at least
one million viewers.

A Japanese firm has ap-
proached Israel's Energy Min-
istry with a request to supply
Israel with pipes for a proposed
gas pipeline from the Persian
Gulf, ministry spokeswoman
Yael Neeman confirmed.
The Japanese approached Is-
rael and then sent a letter with
their request to the ministry in
Jerusalem, she said. The min-
istry has sent the Japanese re-
quest on to the National
Petroleum Services, a govern-
ment-owned company which
will take care of the specifics,
Ms. Neeman said.

trol Systems reported it has
been awarded a $5.3 million
contract for supplying the
Bucharest municipality with a
water control management sys-
tem.
Hydrocom, based in Tel
Aviv, will be using computer
technology combined with wire-
less and regular wire telecom-
munications technologies for
the project to monitor the Ru-
manian capital's water supply
system.
