Graveside and Cemetery Chapel Services Edith Oberfelder Edith Phillips Oberfelder, 90, of Southfield, died Feb. 8. She was a member of Temple Beth El and its sisterhood and past treasurer of the National Coun- cil of Jewish Women. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Hal Burnett of West Bloomfield; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren. Rosalind Samson Rosalind Sarason, 87, of South- field, died Feb. 12. She was a founding member of Temple Is- rael, member of sisterhood of Temple Israel, past vice presi- dent and ran kitchen for Tem- ple Israel antique art show. She also was a member of ORT, Hadassah and the Council of Jewish Women. She leaves her daughter, Jean Gilbert of Southfield; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Chris of Winters, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Sara- son; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Daniel Siegel, Blanche Siegel Daniel Charles Siegel, 92, of Bloomfield Hills, died Feb. 10. He was an insurance executive and founder of Cadillac Mutu- al Insurance Co. which he sold in 1978. He retired in 1982. He was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Hannah Schloss Oldtimers and Franklin Hills Country Club. In the 1920s, Mr. Siegel op- erated Siegel Jewelers with his father in downtown Detroit. In 1931, Mr. Siegel began his in- surance career with the open- ing of the Siegel Co., an insurance agency. In 1947, he created the Cadillac Mutual In- surance Co., the first Michigan- based mutual insurance company licensed in 25 years. Blanche Louise Siegel, 88, of Bloomfield Hills, died Feb. 14. Mrs. Siegel organized and be- gan the "Sammy" Mothers Group at the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity at the University of Michigan. Mrs. Siegel was in the first class of docents, who acted as tour guides for the many groups visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts. After 25 years of service as a docent, she was awarded an honorary docent status. She was a former regional president of Women's American ORT, a member of Hadassah and Bran- deis, and volunteer for the Al- lied Jewish Campaign. Mr. and Mrs. Siegel are sur- vived by sons and daughters-in- law, William of West Bloomfield, Byron and Bobette of Farmington Hills, Barry and Karen of West Bloomfield; sis- ter and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Saul Dunitz of Farmington Hills; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Marjorie Siegel of Southfield; sister, Lillian Lieber- fard of Chicago; eight grand- children; six great-grand- children. Mr. Zachman was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek of East Lansing, past president of Tucker-Grant Lodge; and served as supervi- sor for Counsel #25, AFSCME for the past five years. He was an active volunteer with Oak Park Boy Scout Troop. He is survived by his wife, Royalyn; sons and daughter-in- law, David of Redford, Freder- ick and Michelle of Indianapolis, Ind.; mother, Bessie of Oak Park; brothers and sister-in- law, Thomas of Madison Heights, Richard and Marilyn of Sand Lake, Mich. Interment in East Lansing. Simcha Holzberg Tel Aviv (JTA) — Simcha Holzberg, affectionately know as the "father of the wounded" for his decades of volunteer work with Israeli veterans and families of victims of terrorism, died Feb. 14 after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Holzberg, who was 70, died while attending a memor- ial ceremony for Israelis killed in 1978 in a terrorist massacre of Israelis on the coastal road. Mr. Holzberg, a Holocaust survivor who lost his entire fam- ily at the hands of the Nazis, de- voted his life here to aiding wounded veterans and the fam- ilies of terrorist victims. Despite failing health in re- cent years, Mr. Holzberg main- tained his practice of visiting wounded soldiers at hospitals throughout Israel, assisted by a driver assigned to him by the IDF. At the time of his death, a special IDF tribute was to have been held in Mr. Holzberg's honor. It was postponed be- cause of an official mourning pe- riod for the commander of the Central Sector, Maj. Gen. Ne- hernia Tamari, who died with three other officers in a heli- copter crash last month.
