the most celebrated festivals in
the Jewish calendar.

is named after puru, the Akka-

lots cast to determine the day
on which the slaughter of the
Jews was scheduled. During
Hasmonean times, it was

reservation? Is it not Vashti
who should be extolled? Vashti
