up goalie," Coach Rowden said.
"We have one this year."
Stoller attributes his stami-
na to staying in shape and tak-
ing it easy when a cold or flu
strikes.
A Class B-C-D All-Stater as
a freshman and sophomore,
Stoller was an Honorable Men-
tion All-Stater and All-MPHL
selection last year.
He posted a .892 save per-
centage as a freshman and a
.901 mark as a sophomore. Last
season, he had a 2.50 goals-
against average, 2.25 in league
play. His goals-against mark is
3.95 this year.
"Craig is a stand-up goalie
who reads the play well and
has good reflexes," Rowden said
about the team tri-captain. "His
forte is his ability to out-smart
the shooter. He can almost read
what the guy is going to do with
the puck."
Rowden recalls a particular
performance when Stoller was
a sophomore. A first-round
game against South Lyon in a
tournament went to a penalty-
shot shootout, and Stoller
stopped all five South Lyon
shots. The Yellow Jackets
scored once in the five rounds,
and won the contest.
"On three of the five South
Lyon attempts, Craig poke-
checked the puck away from
the guy before the shot was tak-
en," Rowden said.
Stoller remembers another
game very well. He made 66
saves in a 6-1 loss at East Kent-
wood when he was a freshman.
Being a goalie is a Stoller
family tradition. Craig's older
brothers, Andy, 21, and Brad,
19, also were AAA travel net-
minders when they were grow-
ing up, "and I looked up to
them," Craig said. ❑
