Plans Programs
The Volunteer Network of the
Jewish Federation Business
and Professional Women/
Women's Division is looking for
additional hands to assist hu-
man service agencies in the
metropolitan Detroit area.
On Feb. 13, volunteers will
plan a Valentine's Day party
and play games with mothers
and children who have been vic-
tims of sexual assault or do-
mestic violence at HAVEN
(Help Against Violent Encoun-
ters Now) Counseling Agency.
Participants will meet at 12:15
p.m. at the Max M. Fisher
Building and carpool to the site.
On Feb. 22, volunteers will
celebrate Purim with residents
of the Harriett and Ben Teitel
Jewish Federation Apartments
in Oak Park. The 6:15-9:30 p.m.
program, which is open to fam-
ilies with children, will include
a tour of the facility and a
chance to make friends with
residents.
Volunteer Network will join
JARC, the Jewish Association
for Residential Care, on March
14 for a movie night with resi-
dents of JARC homes. Partici-
pants will meet at 6:30 p.m. at
the Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center and carpool to
the program.
Volunteers will return to Tei-
tel Apartments March 17 to
participate in a community-
wide oral history project by in-
terviewing residents about their
memories of World War II. Vol-
unteers fluent in Hebrew or
Yiddish will be able to record
the memories of residents who
have come recently from the
former Soviet Union.

Congregation Shaarey Zedek
will have their Spring Fashion
Show at the synagogue.
There will be a light lunch at
11:30 a.m. followed by the pro-

Meeting Set
The B'nai David Sisterhood will
hold a regular meeting at the
synagogue noon Feb. 21.
February is Jewish Music
Month; the program for the af-
ternoon will be presented by
Neil Eisenstein, concert pianist.
Lunch will be served for a fee.

Liss Chairs
Fund-Raiser
Beverly Liss will chair Choices,
a fund-raising program for all
women in the community on
behalf of the Allied Jewish
Campaign, March 14 at Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek.

refugee from the former Soviet
Union.
Mrs. Liss is a former
Women's Division vice presi-
dent and received Federation's
Sylvia Simon Greenberg Award
in 1987. She is a board member
of Adat Shalom Synagogue, Hil-
lel Day School, Jewish Com-
munity Center and Detroit
Chapter of the American
Women for Bar-Ilan.
The Choices program is open
to all Jewish women. It is aimed
at attracting a diversity of
women, reaching out to and ed-
ucating women previously un-
affiliated with Campaign and
Federation.
The program also is designed
to invite more women to become
involved in the Jewish commu-
nity. By personal contact,
Women's Division members are
reaching out to individual
women, organization and con-
gregation members across the
Jewish communal spectrum to
encourage them to attend. The
committee of 100 hopes to at-
tract more than 1,000 women
to the event.
A minimum Campaign
pledge of $118 is requested.
There is a luncheon fee, and
paid reservations are due by
March 1. Babysitting will be
available upon request.
