A still life by Selvin.

there is a cross referencing of
ideas in the form of approach
and meaning to the genre
shared by artists in all media.
Nancy Selvin's ideas come
from sources as diverse as
Walker Evans, Man Ray,
Japanese pottery, enameled
graniteware and Joan Didion
to the architecture and indus-
trial landscape of Oakland, Cal-
ifornia where she now resides.
Ms. Selvin's ceramics focus on
a series of still life explorations
juxtaposing form, color and ar-
chitectural sp ace.
Julie Terestman's ceramic
vases, cups, teapots, bowls and
trays are not still life in the
truest sense, but rather they are
objects of still life that the artist
will arrange into compositions
by filling them with flowers,
fruits and other typical still life
subject matter. The pieces will
be presented as a myraid of
shapes ordered in a well-defined
space that will enhance the
viewer's ability to examine
them closely.
Also included in this show
will be the work of five photog-
raphers who construct still life
photographic images. The
artists included will be Zeke
Berman, Jed Devine, Judith
Horwich, Olivia Parker and Rei
Taka. Each of them employs the
still life form yet their work rep-
resents strong individualized
styles which reveal a cross
blending of photography with
other media influences.
Gallery hours are Tuesday -
