While the Granaders say they are pleased with the progress of Camp Mak-A- Dream, they are somewhat frustrated by the difficulties of fund raising. "It's a tough go," says Mrs. Granader. "Camp is going to open in August, and it's hard to get people to donate because the camp is in Montana. People need to realize we are drawing children from all over the coun- try.,, Adds Mr. Granader: "I'm a novice at this. In a way rve been spoiled because when we need- ed to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House, we increased the price on milkshakes." The Granaders established the Children's Oncology Camp Foundation for the camp and entertainer Susan Anton has accepted the position of spokes- woman. "Camping for these children is not a luxury," Mr. Granader says. "The courage, strength, self-acceptance, support and hope that come from the thera- peutic activities are not luxu- ries. They are essential if the children are to grow and live life to its fullest no matter how long or short life might be." music for all occasions (313) 553-3774 JW11 Offers Scholarships The Department of Michigan, Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America and the Ladies Auxiliary are mak- ing available annual Michigan college scholarships in the amount of $500 each.
