"The Age of Rubens," the in-
ternational exhibition organized
by the Museum of Fine Arts,
Boston, will open at the Tole-
do Museum of Art and run
through April 24. The first ma-
jor showing of 17th-century
Flemish Baroque paintings pre-
sented in the United States, the
exhibition brings together an
array of 118 paintings by Peter
Paul Rubens and 57 of his col-
laborators and colleagues from
over 70 major museums and
private collections throughout
the world.
Timed exhibition tickets are
available at the museum or by
calling (419) 243-7000 or (800)
374-0667.
"The Age of Rubens" recap-
tures the golden age of Flemish
painting through brilliant fig-
ure paintings, portraits, genre
scenes, landscapes, animal
paintings and exquisite still fifes
of food and flowers. This exhi-
bition includes paintings from
the world's greatest public and
private collections.
Exhilpition hours are: Tuesday,
11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-
9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 10
a.m. - 5 p.m.; closed Monday.
A free 11-minute audio-visu-
al program detailing the era
and life of Peter Paul Rubens
will be shown continuously in
the Little Theater on the lower
level.
A 45-minute recorded tour of
the exhibition will be available
to groups and individuals dur-
ing regular exhibition hours and
may be reserved with a ticket
or rented at the exhibition en-
trance.
Docent-guided tours of one-
hour are offered Tuesday-Fri-
day, 9-10:30 a.m., and
Saturday, 9-9:45 a.m. For in-
formation, call the scheduling

374-0667. There is a charge.

Ceramic Art
In Southfield

The Cultural Arts Division of
Southfield Parks and Recre-
ation will exhibit the artwork of
Joannie Ugelow from Feb. 7-
Feb. 18 in the Civic Center
Gallery, 26000 Evergreen road.
Hours for the exhibit are 9 a.m.-
9 p.m. Monday through Friday,
and 9-5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Ms. Ugelow is a retired social
studies and English teacher
who pursues her love of ceram-
ics. She is drawn to Raku, a
process in which a finished pot
is fired until red hot, and then
placed on a bed of combustibles.
