Senior Events

Ten students in grade 10 will be selected to

participate in a pilot program at the U of M.
Students will study Jewish History in a
serious academic environment with
professors from the Frankel Center for
Judaic Studies at the University.

The seminars will meet on Thursdays from
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the Ann Arbor
campus. The seminars begin March 17 and
will conclude in December, 1994.
Transportation to the University will be
arranged. Participants will receive a Letter
of Completion from the University for their
High School portfolio.

The Andover High School Choir
will sing Feb. 3 at 1:15 pm. at
the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jew-
ish Community Center. There
is no charge for members.
On Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at JPM a
workshop will remind us that
it is important to live for today.
Door to Door Transportation to
the Oak Park Jewish Commu-
nity Center is offered to senior
adults. This service is provided
through the cooperative efforts
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, the Jewish Information Ser-
vice, the Jewish Welfare
Federation and Jerome Glass-
man,
Passengers are picked up at
their homes beginning at 9:30
a.m. and return from the Cen-
ter at 3 p.m. A donation of $1.00
for the round trip is suggested.
To initiate service, call the
Jewish Information Service at
967-4357.
In order to accommodate the
transportation needs of older
adult apartment dwellers, the
Jewish Community Center of-
fers an apartment shuttle to
persons living within a mile of
the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Building. The shuttle brings se-
niors to the JPM Building each
weekday at approximately 9:30
a.m. and makes a return trip at
2:30 p.m. For information call
the JPM, 967-4030.

"Hidden Children of the Holo-
caust" will be the topic of a talk
given by Rene Lichtman, spon-
sored by the Institute for Re-
tired Professionals, 1 p.m. Feb.
3 at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center.
Rene Lichtman is a co-chair
of the Hidden Child Organiza-
tion of Michigan and was a hid-
den child during the war. The
event is open to the public at no
charge.

A video of Jewish Soul Music
starring clarinetist Giora Feid-
man will be shown at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Commu-
nity Center Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
There is a charge for non-mem-
bers.
A Scrabble and Trivial Pur-
suit tournament will be held at
Maple-Drake Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
There is no charge but call Lor-
riane Morris, 661-7649, to reg-
ister.
A matinee will be held at
Maple-Drake 1 p.m. Feb. 7 free
of charge. The comedy Raising
Arizona will be shown.
