place on Thursday evening, February 10, 1994, at
8:00 P.M. at their building, 26640 Greenfield Road,

New York — Gertrude
Hirschler, 64, an expert on Zion-
ism, the Holocaust and the
teachings of Rabbi Samson
Raphael Hirsch, died Jan. 18.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she
escaped the Nazis and was
brought to the United States as
a child. She was educated in
Baltimore and graduated from
the Hebrew College and Johns
Hopkins University. After sev-
eral years on the staff of the Bal-
timore Jewish Council, she
moved to New York where she
became assistant editor of the
Herzl Press and of the Encyclo-
pedia of Zionism and Israel, to
which she contributed many ar-
ticles.

Henry Lerman

Henry Lerman, 74, of Pompar
Beach, Fla., formerly of Detro
died Jan. 17. He was owner a -
founder of Henry Lerman, Ir
building contractor and ce
penter contractor on 11 K.
Road. He was active at B'na:
rael in Petoskey and boar ii
member of the Real Estate Di-
vision of Allied Jewish Cam-
paign. In 1960 he started a
rough and trim carpentry busi-
ness. He was director of Detroit
Carpenters Joint Apprentice-
ship Committee, Michigan
Builders Association, Knoll-
wood Country Club.
He leaves his daughter,
Paulette Lerman of Southfield;
sons and daughters-in-law, Dr.
Mark and Julie of Northbrook,
Ill., Joel and Freda of Franklin;
four grandchildren.
