Health and Fitness Support Programs Arthritis Self Help Course (ASHC) Six-week arthritis self help courses are offered periodically for individuals with arthritis and their families. Cardiac Rehabilitation Program This state-of-the-art rehabilitation program has been developed for those who have had bypass surgery, a heart attack or have been diagnosed for heart disease. This ongoing program is held at Sinai's Blumberg Health Center and is covered by most insurance programs. For in- formation, call 493-6333. Cardiovascular Fitness Evaluation The Cardiovascular Fitness Evaluation has been developed for individuals who want to find out their overall fitness level. The evaluation includes blood work, medical history, body fat analysis, treadmill fitness test and exercise prescription. The program is held at Sinai Hospital's Cardiovascular Fitness Center in the Blumberg Health Center. For fee and other information, call 493-6333. Childbirth and Family Life Education Sinai Hospital offers numerous classes in child- birth and family life education both at Sinai Hos- pital and at various settings in the community. Health and Wellness Program This program is designed for those who don't have heart disease and want to get started on a plan to improve their overall fitness. Freedom from Smoking Sinai Hospital co-sponsors "Freedom from Smok- ing," a program of the American Lung Associa- tion of Michigan. The eight-week program begins with a free orientation. Project Health O Rama - - Sinai Hospital will host Project Health-O-Rama, 9:30 am to 4pm, Sunday, March 6, 1994, in the hospital's Zuckerman Dining Room. Sinai HealthCare Foundation I n its third year of op- eration, the Sinai Health Care Founda- tion reaches thousands of contributors in the metropolitan area who wish to support Sinai Hospital's tradition of medical excellence. The Foundation rais- es and administers funds to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Thanks to many generous donors, the Foundation is meet- ing its mission of pro- viding continued sup- port to Michigan's only Jewish-sponsored hos- pital. Bruce Gershenson chairs the Foundation's Board of Trustees. Among the Founda- tion's efforts are: Sponsors Club. Begun in 1993, this annual membership drive raised more than $17,000 from 340 donors last year. All $50 mem- bership gifts are listed in the quarterly Foun- dation Features. Founding 500. This special campaign raised $220,000 from 440 donors, each of whom contributed a minimum of $500. Their names are listed on the Found- ing 500 Wall of Honor in the Hospital's Outer Drive lobby. Heritage Ball. The an- nual Heritage Ball rais- es funds for a particular area of service. The 1993 Ball drew 700 atten- dees, who contributed $400,000 in support of Sinai's Cardiology sec- tion. The 1994 Ball will be held this coming Oc- tober. Endowment Funds. There are many giving opportunities for those who wish to provide permanent funding for specific services or facil- ities. Endowment gifts may also be made in conjunction with the United Jewish Founda- tion. Tribute Gifts. Tributes of $5 and up provide a meaningful way to ac- knowledge a special oc- casion or memorialize an individual.
