Michelle (Dean) Wolfe of West

Parenting Center
Classes Set

The Celebration Series with
Harlene Appelman will cover
the bows and whys of Jewish
tradition at the Applebaum
Jewish Parenting Center, 4200
Walnut Lake Rd., West Bloom-
field 10-11:30 a.m. Jan. 30, Feb.
6, 27. Each session will include
holiday information, home cel-
ebration skills and new hands-
on experiences and resources.
There is no fee for members of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
Elissa Rosenfeld will help
parents to understand why chil-
dren misbehave and will give
specific techniques to help solve
these problems in Mensch Mak-
ing — S.T.E.P. Systematic
Training for Effective Parent-
ing Jan. 24-March 21 (no class
Feb. 14) from 9-10:30 a.m. at
the Parenting Center. All ma-
terials are provided. There is a
fee.
Practical and effective meth-
ods of building self-esteem will
be taught by Brenda Strausz at
the Parenting Center in "Roots
& Wings" Feb. 1-March 15 (no
class Feb. 15) from 9-10:30 am.
There is a fee.
Newly single women will
meet with facilitator Irma Starr
to discuss challenges in "Going
It Alone." Held at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, 27375 Bell Rd.,
Southfield, this series will meet
Feb. 1-March 1 (no class Feb.
15) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There
is a fee.
Infant Massage is a quiet
time in the evening for Mom or
Dad and baby, recommended
for babies birth through crawl-
ing. Kathleen Joseph will lead
sessions Feb. 2, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
at the Parenting Center. There
is a fee.
The Stanley Kaplan PSAT-
SAT prep course is designed to
help students perform to the
best of their ability through per-
sonalized instruction, practice
SAT tests (the new version),
home study materials, test-tak-
ing strategies and practice. This
class, taught by Kaplan staff,
will begin Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
and meet through March 13 at
3 p.m. There is a fee.
