Livnot U'Lehibanot (To Build
and To Be Built), a three-month
work and study program in Is-
rael, is accepting applications
for the spring programs begin-
ning March 6 in both ancient
Tzfat and historic Jerusalem.
By literally "digging into your
roots," participants between the
ages of 21-30 are introduced to
the foundations of Jewish tra-
dition.
Livnot offers an intense
course of study in modern Jew-
ish and Israeli history as well
as traditional philosophy and
customs. In addition to the
classes, participants work on
building and community service
projects and go on bi-weekly
hikes throughout the country.
The highlights of the pro-
gram include a three-day hike
from the Sea of Galilee to the
Mediterranean Sea, a desert
hike in the Negev and seminars
in both Tzfat and Jerusalem.
The program offers group, home
hospitalioty and free Shabbat
experiences throughout the pro-
gram. The cost is $1,150 which
includes room and board, tours
and hikes. Discounted group
airfare and limited scholarships
are available.
Programs run year round be-
ginning in March, June, Sep-
tember and December. For
information, call (212) 752-2390
or write to Livnot IFLehibanot,
