Every Friday night at Camp Maas, campers
gather to celebrate Shabbat. These special
evenings are filled with prayer, song and dance

summer at Camp Maas is usually filled with so man
different activities, campers are always on the go.
The only exception to the norm — Shabbat.
Every Friday night, candles are lit, and the prayer
are said over the wine (grape juice) and challah.
Then, the campers and their counselors sit down to the try
ditional Shabbat dinner, which usually consists of chicker
kugel, challah and soup.
Ask any camper what he likes best about Friday night a
camp and chances are he will tell you the song session tha
follows every Shabbat meal.
After dinner, the dining hall is transformed into a mini "jar
session" where campers sing and dance to the medley of upbea
Shabbat songs.

Getting ready to dig in.
