The Jewish Genealogical Soci-
ety of Michigan will feature a
document translating session
at its meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18
at the Temple Beth El library.
Translators fluent in Russian,
Polish, Yiddish, Hebrew, and
German are expected to assist
in translating documents and
vital records.
There is no charge for mem-
bers and first-time guests.
Membership materials will be
available at the door.
A genealogical help session
will be held at the library from
7-7:30 p.m.

Schindler Talk
By Dr. Tanay

"Schindler's List: A Historical
Perspective" will be presented
by Dr. Emanuel Tanay 7:30
p.m. Jan. 16 at the Grosse
Pointe Unitarian Church,
17150 Maumee.
Dr. Tanay, area psychiatrist,
will speak from both personal
and historical perspectives.
Born in Poland, Dr. Tanay faced
the Holocaust during his ado-
lescence. His struggle for sur-
vival was depicted in the Oscar
nominated documentary
Courage to Care. Dr. Tanay is
in the process of translating the
trial of Nazi Amon Goeth, com-
mandant of Plaszow Forced La-
bor Camp.
The lecture is sponsored by
the Grosse Pointe Jewish Coun-
cil. The public is invited to at-
