A four-week course, "Bring-
ing Biblical Women To Life,"
will be led by Elissa Berg, at
Maple-Drake on Jan. 19, 26 and
Feb. 2, 9 at 12:30 pm. There is
a charge. Pre-registration is re-

The Retired and Senior Volun-
teer Program (RSVP) is seek-
ing adults 55 and older to
participate in the STAR PA-
TROL (Seniors Teaching And
Reaching) Program in the
Southfield, Oak Park and Fer-
ndale Schools. Volunteers are
asked to commit 2-4 hours per
week.
A volunteer is matched with
one teacher/class for the school
year. There is a need for assis-
tance with child care, for tutor-
ing of students learning to
speak English, for reading and
math tutors and more. Volun-
teers who would like to teach
a craft or skill to students would
be welcome.
Benefits include liability in-
surance, mileage reimburse-

On Jan. 10 at 1 p.m., Jill Walk-
er will facilitate a workshop to
remind us that it is important
to live for today. This is the sec-
ond of a four part series.
On Jan. 14 from 10 a.m.-noon
Senior Discount Identification
Cards, available to Oakland
County residents age 60+, will
be taken. The photo ID card en-
title older adults to receive dis-
counts from various merchants
and should include: your name,
address, birthdate and social se-
curity number. There is no
charge.
On Jan. 17 at 1 p.m., Jerry
Guttman will answer questions
regarding investments, annu-
ities and long-term health care.
Reserve tickets at the JPM re-
ception desk. There is no
charge.
On Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. the Jim-
my Prentis Morris building will
have a coffee hour to welcome
new volunteers to the Center.
The program will describe var-
ious volunteer activities avail-

Rabbi Leads
Torah Study

Rabbi William Gershon will
lead the Conservative Move-
ment Torah Study at 12:30 p.m.
Jan. 13 at the Max M. Fisher
Building. He will speak on
Parashat Bo, Book of Exodus.
The study session is sponsored
by the Michigan Region of the
United Synagogue, the Michi-
gan Regional Rabbinical As-
sembly, and the Detroit Friends
of the Jewish Theological Sem-
inary.
Study sessions are held every
Thursday. There is no charge
for the class; lunch is available
for a charge, by reservation
only, beginning at noon. For in-

Families Plan
Winter Camp

Families and clergy from Tem-
ple Kol Ami and staff from Jew-
ish Experiences for Families
(JEFF) and Fresh Air Society
will spend a winter weekend at
Tamarack Camp's Butzel Con-
ference Center in Ortonville Jan.
14-16. The theme of the weekend
is the exodus from Egypt.
