The Adat Shalom Men's Club
will offer its winter term of He-
brew literacy classes, beginning
Jan. 10. The course is comprised
of 10 classes continuing through
March 7 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
There is no class Feb. 14.
The program offers Hebrew
classes at three different levels.
Beginners, those with no pre-
vious Hebrew knowledge, will
learn the letters and vowels and
some of the prayers of the Fri-
day night service. Intermedi-
ates, who already know the
letters and some words, will fo-
cus on learning to read the
prayers. (This is the appropri-
ate section for those who stud-
ied to become bar and bat
mitzvah a number of years ago
and wish a refresher course.)
Advanced students will improve
reading skills and ability to
keep pace with the Shabbat
morning service.
Hebrew literacy instructors
are Adat Shalom members who
are proficient in Hebrew and
have had past teaching experi-
ence. Adat Shalom clergy will
also participate. There is a fee
to cover books, printed materi-
als and all classes.
For information, call Don
Rudick, 855-1917, or the Adat
Shalom office, 851-5100. ❑
