Danish Minister
Visits Israel

Jerusalem (JTA) — Danish
Prime Minister Poul
Rasmussen has arrived in
Israel for an official visit to
commemorate the 50th an-
niversary of the Danish
government's rescue of its
Jewish population from the
hands of the Nazis.
Mr. Rasmussen toured
Jerusalem and the Yad
Vashem.
Mr. Rasmussen arrived in
Israel not only to mark the
anniversary of Denmark's
rescue of its Jewish citizens,
but also to show his coun-
try's support for the self-rule
accord Israel and the
Palestine Liberation Organ-
ization signed in September.
"We are beginning a new
phase of developing our
economic cooperation bet-
ween Europe and Israel, as
well as (with) the new PLO
areas," said Mr. Rasmussen.
