Fund-Raiser
At Gallery
Two community services will
benefit from a fund-raiser in
Ferndale at Revolution: A
Gallery Project.
"Watch Me Grow" is a pro-
gram developed by Common
Ground in Royal Oak. The goal
is to develop self-esteem in el-
ementary aged children who
have been identified as "at risk."
Students in the Ferndale and
Royal Oak school districts are
helped by this program.
The Detroit Institute of Arts
also will benefit. The museum
has a pilot program in conjunc-
tion with Wayne County Fam-
ily Center. The museum's
education department will work
weekly for six months with
homeless people aged 18 to 26.
This model will demonstrate a
means by which art can be used
as a tool for teaching the cogni-
tive skills necessary for survival
in the workplace. Funding will
ensure the continuation and ex-
pansion of the program to in-
clude other Detroit
metropolitan agencies.
Revolution: A Gallery Project
is located at 23257 Woodward
Ave., Ferndale.
Gallery hours for this event
will be Tuesday-Saturday 10
a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday evening
until 8 p.m. and Sunday 12-4
p.m.
