II MSideig6 COMM. by Ni err here are certain days to which we look forward with joy and anticipation. Chanukah certainly is among these. There are other dates which we would rather avoid or ignore; April 15 or "Income Tax Day" certainly comes to mind. Why bring up April 15 now when all of us would prefer to focus on the fun of the Chanukah season? Well, April 15 will eventually arrive and although time remains in the current tax calendar year, time for tax planning is growing short. Recent changes in tax laws enable individuals to make more cost effective gifts to charitable programs. The increase in the top Feder- al income tax bracket from 31% to just under 40% means that donors making tax deductible contributions may realize greater income tax benefits. Outright gifts to JNF provide benefits to donors through these tax deductions. JNF also offers a variety of Deferred Gift Programs which provide additional direct cash income benefits to the donor as well. For example, establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust can provide an advantageous annual income, remove uncertainty from your ongoing investment decisions, and establish a substantial chari- table donation with the Jewish National Fund for the benefit of our people in Israel. Here's how it works: You take any amount currently invested at low earning rates and upon maturity donate it to the JNF. In return, JNF will establish a fixed annuity payable quarterly for the rest of your life. The amount of the payment will depend on the amount do- nated and your age, but the rate of return will be much higher than any comparable CD or similar investment available. In summary, establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust with JNF will: 1. Provide a stable, advantageous and reliable income source you will never outlive. 2. Provide you with a current Federal income tax deduction. 3. Reduce your exposure to Federal Estate Tax. 4. Furnish resources to enable JNF to continue its much needed work for our fellow Jews in Israel. There are a variety of other Deferred Gift structures that JNF offers which can be specifically tailored to individual needs and require- ments. In each case, the resulting program will produce advantageous current income yields to the donor, Federal income tax deduc- tions and Federal estate tax benefits, and support for all the important work of the JNF. I know you will be doing yourself a favor by getting the facts to help you decide how you can derive the benefits these programs offer. Please call the JNF office at 557-6644 and ask for Ed Rosenthal to find out more. All of us at the Jewish National Fund join in wishing you a very happy Chanukah. ri INF ON National TV On Sunday, December 12 at 1:30 P.M. on Channel 11, sub- scribers to Continental Cablevi- sion will have an opportunity to view highlights of the Anthony M.
