arbara Cook and Arthur Horwitz will head up Super Week '94 on behalf of the
Jewish Federation's 1994 Allied Jewish Campaign and Operation Exodus
II.
Beginning on Jan. 14 and 15 with Federation Sabbath, the Campaign will get
into full gear with the Phonogift women's appeal on Jan. 16, 17 and 24, and climax
with the Super Sunday phonathon, Jan. 23. Hundreds of volunteers will make
calls Jan. 18-20, asking Detroiters to make a difference in the lives of their fel-
low Jews in need here, in Israel and around the world.
During Super Week '94, youth groups, organizations, congregations and the
Jewish Federation's Young Adult Division will volunteer their services to help
60 agencies here, in Israel and overseas. Among the local agencies with grow-
ing needs are: Jewish Federation Apartments, Jewish Community Center, Jew-
ish Home for Aged, Agency for Jewish Education, Hebrew Free Loan Association,
Sinai Hospital, Jewish Vocational Service, Fresh Air Society, Jewish Commu-
nity Council, Jewish Family Service and Resettlement Service.
Throughout that week, contributors will be asked to increase their gifts to
the Campaign and make matching donation to the continuing Operation Exodus campaign
for the rescue of Jews from the former Soviet Union and their resettlement in Israel.
Mrs. Cook is vice president of Federation's Women's Division, chairman of Federation's
Resettlement Committee and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. Other affili-
ations include the Jewish Community Center (Book Fair), Jewish Federation Apartments,
Jewish Community Council, Adat Shalom Synagogue, National Council of Jewish Women,
Fil-Inqv School and Jewish- Theological Seminary.
Mr. Horwitz chairs the Ben Teitel Israel Incentive Savings Plan for student travel to Is-
rael, is on the board of the Neighborhood Project and a member of the United Jewish Appeal
Young Leadership Cabinet and Jewish Experiences For Families advisory committee. Oth-
er affiliations include JARC, Sinai Health Care Foundation, Aish HaTorah, Detroit Friends
of Alyn Hospital, Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.

oel E. Jacob has been appointed
chairman of the Jewish Corn-
munity Archives, co-sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit and the Jewish His-
torical Society.
The Archives consists of papers,
photographs and other documents
that date back to the turn of the cen-

tury and relate the history and de-
velopment of the Detroit Jewish community, as well as its relationships with
world Jewry.
The Archives is a companion collection to Federation documents housed
at the Burton Historical Collection of the Detroit Public Library. Researchers
may use both facilities, which are located within the Detroit Cultural Cen-
ter.
Mr. Jacob, who serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation and Kadi-
ma, is a founder of the Detroit Business Initiative, which provides Detroit
youth with hands-on business experience.
Serving on the Archives Committee with Mr. Jacob are: Judge Avern Cohn,
Dr. Sidney Bolkosky, Gilbert A. Borman, Tillie Brandwine, Judith Cantor,
Susan Citrin, Sol Drachler, Alan D. Kandel, Dorothy Kaufinan, Alene Landau,
