which is also active in finding

`There is no more room in the
Old City for Jews," said Ms.
Johnson, author of A United
Jerusalem: The Story of Ateret
Cohanim. `The Jewish Quarter
is completely full. We have
about 100 families on our wait-
ing list."
In response to a question
about obtaining homes from the
Arabs, Mr. Baumol told those
present about the complications
of acquiring new homes.
"Every time an Arab sells
property to a Jew, he is liable to
be killed," he said. "Every time
a sale happens we have to cov-
er up for the Arab. For exam-
ple, right now there is a
protected Arab family living in
midtown Manhattan."
Mr. Baumol talked about the
danger factor of living in the

Muslim Quarter.
"You have to distinguish be-
tween the danger for those who
live there and those who are vis-
itors," he said. 'They (the Arabs)
know who lives there and you
have to be careful. We have se-
curity and most of the danger
comes from the outside. The av-
erage Jew really has nothing to
fear."

"There is no more
room in the Old City
for Jews."

More than half of all Israelis
are supportive of a Jewish pres-
ence in the Muslim Quarter, ac-
cording to a survey cited by Mr.
Baumol.
"A lot of our donations come
from people in Israel who just
want to help us out," he said. ❑
