Young Adults
Will Volunteer

All young adults in the com-
munity are invited to celebrate
Chanukah at a party for new
American children with Reset-
tlement Service or to hold a hol-
iday party with 300 children
from Orchards Children's Ser-
vices 1:15 p.m. Dec. 5
All participants in the Jew-
ish Federation Young Adult
Division volunteer event will
meet at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community
Center for a reception before
going to one of the two par-
ties.
The Chanukah party with
the newcomers will be held at
the JPM-JCC, where volun-
teers will play games and
work on arts and crafts pro-
jects with the children. Par-
ticipants are encouraged to
being kosher baked goods and
treats to the program.
Volunteers at the Orchards
holiday party will carpool
from the JPM Center to De-
troit's Northwest Activity
Center, 18100 Meyers, at 2
p.m.

Singles Shabbat
At B'nai Moshe

Congregation B'nai Moshe will
host the Singles Shabbat Ser-
vice 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
The speaker during the Oneg
Shabbat will be Don Shane,
sportscaster for WXYZ-TV
(Channel 7).
The community-wide Sin-
gles Shabbat services are
made possible by a grant
from the Max M. Fisher
Foundation. It is offered by
the Michigan Board of Rab-
bis, in cooperation with The
Jewish News and the Jewish
Community Center.

Participants in April's Michi-
gan Miracle Mission are invit-
ed to attend "Creating Jewish
Culture: Jewish Issues Through
the Writer's Eyes" 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 29 and repeated 7:30 a.m.
Nov. 30 at the Max M. Fisher
Building.
Sponsored by the Melitz Cen-
ters for Jewish Zionist Educa-
tion and the Jewish Federa-
tion's Mission Involvement
Committee, the program will
feature Joyce Klein, director of
theater in Melitz' Education De-
partment.
Melitz is an Israeli-based in-
stitute that enables participants
to confront questions of Jewish
identity.
Ms. Klein is a playwright-in-
residence at the B'nai B'rith Hil-
lel Foundation at the Universi-
ty of California at Berkeley and
a former member of the bu-
reaus of Jewish education in
San Francisco and New York.
The program is part of an on-
going educational series which
will conclude Jan. 17 and 18,
with Rabbi Daniel Levine, a po-
litical scientist at Tel Aviv and
Bar-Ilan universities, who will
discuss `The Jewish/Arab Con-
flict: The Struggle for Gods Over
the Promised Land."
There is a charge for the pro-

Jewish Singles
Sponsor Cruise

The Jewish Community Cen-
ters Association of St. Louis, in
cooperation with Bon Voyage
Travel, will sponsor the Tenth
Annual Nationwide Jewish Sin-
gles Supercruise '94 on Royal
Caribbean Cruise Lines'
Monarch of the Seas. The sev-
en-day excursion departs from
San Juan, Puerto Rico, Feb. 6
and returns Feb. 13. The ship
will make port stops at St.
Maarten, Barbados, Mar-
tinique, Antigua and St.
Thomas.
The cruise package in-
cludes: round-trip airfare
from most major U.S. cities
to San Juan with transfers to
the port, all meals and
snacks, two cocktail parties
