RECENT PAINTINGS

Spanish Artist
At Bunting

The Bunting Gallery will mount
a one-person, area premier ex-
hibition of paintings, mixed me-
dia, and lithography by artist
Ramon Lombarte from Barce-
lona, Spain. Highlights will
include paintings from his new
series Mediterraneo.
The artist's images are quiet
dramas focusing on women. His
use of an intensely rich palette
and, strong shifts of light and
shadow intensify the mysteri-
ous, and often sensual moods
revealed.
Mr. Lombarte was born in
1956 in Barcelona. He gradu-
ated from the Messana School
of Fine Arts. In terms of artis-
tic influences, the artist names
Spanish chiaroscuro masters
Goya and Valasquez. He has
been honored with receipt of the
Joan Miro International Draw-
ing Award.
Bunting Gallery is at 514 S.
Washington, Royal Oak, 545-
4820. Gallery hours are Tues-
day 11-6, Wednesday-Friday
11-8, and Saturday 11-7.

ter.
Art Tarnow was the original
State Appellate Defender and
has handled numerous crimi-
nal appeals in both state and
federal courts. He also served
as a member of the special com-
mittee appointed by the presi-
dent of the State Bar of Michi-
gan to evaluate the crisis in
Michigan's appellate courts.
