0 V EMBER 2 6 1 9 9 HMC Anniversary Features An Exhibit Calendar T he Holocaust Memorial Center will kick off the celebration of its 10th anniversary with an exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Danish rescue. The exhibition, "October 1943: The Rescue of the Danish Jews from Annihila- tion," will be on display at the HMC Dec. 5-Jan. 16. The exhibition covers the rise of National Socialism, the his- tory of the Jews in Denmark, the German occupation of Den- mark, Danish resistance and the rescue of the Jews. Preben Munch-Nielsen is a Danish rescuer who will speak at one of the HMC's educational programs associated with the exhibition. A members' and volunteers' preview reception will official- ly open the exhibition. The wine and cheese reception will be held at the Holocaust Memorial Center Dec. 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 Preben munch.Nieisen p.m. There is no charge, but reservations are necessary. Other events planned and sponsored by the Holocaust Memo- rial Center to accompany the exhibition are: Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center — a showing of the documentary An Act of Faith about the Danish Rescue will be followed by a presentation by Prevan Munch-Nielsen, a Danish rescuer who helped transport 1,400 refugees to Sweden. Dec. 7, 7:30 at the JCC Dr. Leo Goldberger, a rescued Danish Jew and a psychology professor at New York University, will speak about the rescue effort. His book, The Rescue of the Danish Jews: Moral Courage Under Stress, will be available for sale and auto- graphing. Holocaust Memorial Center hours are 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Museum admission, the exhibition, and all programs associated with the exhibition are free of charge. The HMC is wheelchair accessible.
