Boston (JTA) — Nobel Peace
Prize-winner and Holocaust
survivor Elie Wiesel has
spent his life fighting in-
tolerance and cruelty — as
his personal papers, now on
exhibit at Boston Univer-
sity's Mugar Memorial
Library, clearly demon-
strate.
The exhibit, "Journey of a
Witness," which opened
earlier this month on the oc-
casion of Wiesel's 65th bir-
thday, is on display through
the end of next August.
It showcases hundreds of
items — photographs,
speeches, books, notes, cor-
respondence, awards and
manuscripts — from 1928 to
the present, filling 22 cases
in the Grubosky Rosenfeld
Exhibition Hall.
The collection reflects the
life of a man who has
This man
dedicated his life
to rescuing
history.
dedicated his life to rescuing
history by preserving voices
from the past.
According to Boston Uni-
versity Library exhibition
coordinator W. Perry Bar-
ton, the task of putting
together the exhibit took
four months.
On exhibit are several of
the awards Mr. Wiesel has
received during his literary
and activist career, in-
cluding the Presidential
Medal of Freedom, which he
was awarded in 1992, and
the medal naming him
Commander of the French
Legion of Honor.
In a separate display case
is Mr. Wiesel's 1986 Nobel
Peace Prize medallion and
citation.
As the exhibit at the
Mugar Library demon-
strates, the message of uni-
versal caring is paramount
in Mr. Wiesel's mind.
His actions, which flow
from a seemingly inex-
haustible wellspring of
energy, continue to confront
the troubling issues of our
day.
Music Video
Makes Appeal
Tel Aviv (JTA) — Using
music to convey their mes-
sage, Israelis are releasing a
song on radio and television
on behalf of missing aviator
Ron Arad.
The song "When You're
Home," with music by
Israeli singer Boaz Sharabi,
also is a music video with
lyrics in Hebrew, English
and Arabic.
Mr. Arad bailed out of his
plane over Lebanon in Oc-
tober 1986. He was later
captured by Amal forces.
Since then, Israeli officials
as well as Mr. Arad's family,
who believe the aviator is
alive, have appealed to
governments in the region
as well as to the United
States for his release.
Music videos were to
premiere this week in Israel,
the United States, England,
Canada, South Africa,
France, Brazil, Mexico and
China, as well as over
satellite channels, including
MTV, CNN and Hong Kong-
based Star Plus. ❑
