Seminary Names
General Chairmen

Anaruth Bernard and Dr. Alden Leib have been named as chair-
men for the Detroit Friends of the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Bernard has been a Seminary supporter for many years.
She has served in a number of capacities including chairman for
Sunday at the Seminary and helping to create weekly Conserva-
tive Movement's Torah study lunch and learn. A past president of

Elliot Pachter has been elected
president of the Michigan Re-
gion of the Rabbinical Assem-
bly, the international
organization of Conservative
rabbis. Also elected were Rabbi
Aaron Bergman, secretary, and
Rabbi David Nelson, treasurer.
Rabbi William Gershon is the
immediate past president.
Rabbi Pachter is spiritual
leader of Congregation B'nai
Moshe in West Bloomfield.

Hillel Day School, she serves as chair-
man of the Tuition Allowance Commit-
tee. Mrs. Bernard is national vice
president of the board of trustees for the
Conservative Movement's Solomon
Schechter Day Schools. She is a former
president of the Alyn Hospital, Detroit
chapter, and a past vice president of the Re-
settlement Service Agency. A member of
Congregation Beth Shalom, she has been on
the board and was co-chairperson of the Beth
Shalom Cultural Commission.
Dr. Alden M. Leib served as the 1991 and
1992 Metro Detroit Seminary Dinner chair-
man. Dr. Leib specializes in periodontics in Farm-
ington and Dearborn where he has been
practicing since 1966. He was a past examiner
for the Michigan State Board of Dentistry and
has served on the ethics and peer review com-
mittee of the Detroit Dental Society. Dr. Leib
serves on the board of trustees of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and is an officer of the Men's Club.
In addition, he is a member of the board of the
Jewish Community Council and of the Federa-
tion Resettlement Committee.

Jeff Kaye, the new shaliach from Israel, will speak on
`The Peace Accord — Will It Work?" to the parents of
North American Israelis (PNAI) 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30, at
the Agency for Jewish Education. There is no charge.
Jeff Kaye was born and grew up in Scotland. He
was active in the Habonim Labor Zionist Youth Move-
ment. He earned a degree in psychology and made
aliyah j 1981, continuing his studies at the Hebrew
versit, specializing in learning disabilities. He
has worked as a teacher, principal, and in manage-
ment roles with Diaspora youth programs in Israel.
