Creative Gifts
For Special Men
s you gear up for your
annual holiday quest
for the perfect gift for
our man, consider
these tips that might spur that
special solution.
Judith King offers a basic be-
ginning in her book, The Great-
est Gift Guide Ever (Betterway
Books.) She recommends
preparing a gift profile before
you hit those stores. This
profile goes beyond sizes and
ages and delves into personali-
ties. See if you can get gift hints
from your man's hobbies, topics
of conversation, wishes or
dreams.
Meanwhile, here are some
suggestions that may spur your
own creativity.
The ever-present tie as a hol-
iday gift offers more excitement
this year. Whimsical, witty
prints and even art reproduc-
tions are hot this year, as are
small geometric patterns in
many bright and contrasting
colors.
Just about anything Western
has become vogue from cowboy
boots to bolo ties to conch belts
to silver buckle belts to cowboy
hats. And today's jeans have
several styles, from classic boot
fit to slim to relaxed, easy fit
choices.
Cufflinks are back as cuffed
shirts return to formal wear.
Some are teamed with stud
sets, and they're sporting mo-
saics of colored stones of silver
sailboats, pianos, scales of jus-
tice and even TV sets where the
screen reveals your own tiny
photo. ❑

ne Moment In Time,
a Birmingham retail
store which special-
izes in designer
evening apparel rentals, now of-
fers women the opportunity to
place their "gently worn"
evening apparel on consign-
ment for resale.
"We've had such an over-
whelming response to our after
season sales of rental dresses
that we decided to diversify and
offer an upscale atmosphere for
women to recycle their design-
0
er evening wear," says co-
founder Bonita Coleman Webb.
The store only takes design-
er evening wear with a mini-
mum retail value of $500
and under two years old. Cus-
tomers receive 50 percent of the
resale price for consignment
dresses.
One Moment In Time will di-
vide the store between con-
signment resales and dress
rentals. The store is now ac-
cepting winter and holiday
evening wear for resale. ❑
