How Not to Stay Single in Detroit 1 Night Seminar with Relationship Expert Nita Tucker Park West Gallery in South- field will hold an exhibition of the paintings of Linda Le Kinff, through Nov. 25. A master of graphism, Ms. Le Kinff favors refined and elaborated techniques, but also uses incisive or violent strokes. Through her work, the artist demonstrates her attraction for hand move- ments and the intensity of materials. Born in Paris of French and Brazilian descent. Ms. Le Kniff took up painting at age 20 after briefly considering a career in journalism. Travel in the 1970s fueled Ms. Le Kinffs artistry. She studied in Italy for 12 years, learning techniques of tempera, egg painting and gold leaf. Dur- ing that time she also mas- tered the art of wood and copper engraving, acrylics and airbrushing. In the years that followed, Ms. Le Kinff learned lithog- raphy, sand and sumi and took up painting, polishing and varnishing woodwork, using a special material made of casein which she applied to her painting. Park West Gallery is lo- cated at 29469 Northwestern Highway in Southfield. Galle- ry hours are Monday- Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 pm.; and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 pm.. For information, call the gallery, 354-2343. Posner Gallery Shows Kozlow "Kozlow in Black and White," an exhibition of paintings by Birmingham artist Richard Kozlow, will open Nov. 12 at Posner Gallery of Farmington Hills with a 5:30-8 p.m. recep- tion. His one-man show of more than 50 paintings, done in the past year, will continue through Nov. 27. In Mr. Kozlow's hands, these tempera-on-paper works, filled with hundreds of subtle changes of the in- tensity of black, seem to come alive. As the eye grows ac- customed to the low light, shapes and color tones be- come more clearly defined. Although Mr. Kozlow is known for color-filled land- scapes and depictions of peo- ple in street scenes and celebrations throughout the world, he likes working in black and white. Until this past year, he hasn't used it for such a large, complex body of work as the current one. ❑ 1900 Highlights from Private Collections In Detroit "Within six months of taking this seminar, I had 2 proposals."
