much more than profession-
al acclaim. She met her hus-
band while working on a
touring production, became
engaged five weeks later and
married after the tour ended.
On a sad note, Ms. Kaye
has worked with Rock Hud-
son, Larry Kert and others
who have succumbed to
AIDS, leaving her very com-
mitted to raising funds to
combat the disease.
Also important to her are
benefits in behalf of the Unit-
ed Jewish Appeal as well as
the temple and Jewish nurs-
ing home in the city where
she was raised.
Ms. Kaye is looking for-
ward to an upcoming en-
gagement in the concert hall
of the Young Men's Hebrew
Association in New York, a
series of four concerts in
Florida with Peter Nero at
the piano and the release of
a new album, Unpublished
Sondheirn, which features
several singers.
"When I'm doing what I'm
supposed to do — performing
in a wonderful play, singing
wonderful songs, reading
recorded books for Random
House — it's wonderful," she
said. "When I have to keep
myself busy waiting for the
next job, that's hard.
"I'm not a very patient per-
son, although I'm getting bet-
ter at it. I suppose it's good
not to be too patient. I think
people need to be moving
forces in their own lives, es-
pecially in show business."
"The Merry Widow" will be
performed at the Fisher The-
atre at 8 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 19
and 20; 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14; 1
p.m Nov. 17; and 2 p.m. Nov.
21. For information, call the
MOT, 874-7850. ❑
