Farrakhan Article
Just Aids His Bias

Now that you have published
the Louis Farrakhan interview
(Oct. 22), are the hijackers of the
Achille Lauro next?
Louis Farrakhan has slan-
dered the Jewish people in
public. We have heard him.
Have you?
Louis Farrakhan is a me-
dia invention. He thrives on
publicity. Interviews give him
credibility and respectabili-
ty. This increases his power
base, and you are helping
him.
His malicious speeches are
designed to incite "his" peo-
ple to hate us. Therefore, who
would expect or even want an
apology that is worthless?
Only a change in his actions
will convince any thinking
person of his sincerity.
Richard Lobenthal of the

bigots, has called Farrakhan
"a professional anti-Semite."
I do have som praises for
Farrakhan:
1. He must be smarter
than the publishers of The
Jewish News, since he knows
who his enemies are.
2. He must be smarter
than I, having spent 75 cents
on The Jewish News; I will
not make that mistake again.

MUSEUM page 5

the culmination of almost 2,000
years of Catholic vilification of
the Jew. The Jew who said
Tehillim in Eastern Europe was
the devil for whom a world war
must be made to eradicate. The
Holocaust, is first and foremost,
part of Jewish history. It is a
chapter in the Jew's survival
against a prejudiced society
whose hatred is fanned into a
fire by its churches and politi-
cal leaders. It is part of God's
prophetic statement of destruc-
tion prior to redemption. The
Holocaust in this museum los-
es its Jewish face to try to teach
the world a lesson.
It is a lesson the world cares
little about. Bosnia is still in
shambles. Ethiopian warlords
still brutalize the
taa
lighting continues through-
out Eastern Europe. The
testimony of the events, while
depicted, is colored by the what-
ever message the committee
wishes to endorse.
I am sickened by the white-
washing of Rabbi Stephen Wise.
The major Jewish American or-
ganizations stood by and did
nothing in World War II. Let it
be said truthfully, or say noth-
ing at all. Ditto for David Ben
Gurion and Chaim Weitzman
in Palestine. Not one word of
protest flows from their lips dur-
ing those fateful years. All the
while they knew of the horrors
of their brethren suffering. Ben
Gurion will run to the DP (Dis-
placed Persons) Camps after the

war to lobby for support and
youth for aliyah. Where was he
when the orphans' parents
could still have been saved?
Where was his outrage and
courage?
Today, it's popular to be ar-
rested for protesting apartheid.
It was unpopular and unthink-
able to chain oneself in front of
the White House in 1942. Why
did they do nothing? Outra-
geous as it may have been, it is
even worse when it is glossed
over and attributed merely to
the doings of the State Depart-
ment. If it is too painful for
American Jews to look in the
mirror and ask the question
don't
"Where were you?"
as it and sweep it under the
rug.
Also missing in the "Jewish"
response. Not the uprisings. I
mean, what are we supposed to
do about it? Where is our re-
solve to rebuild Jewish life, to
protect other Jews? To insure
that we survive?
Because, the Holocaust Mu-
seum is not for "us." It's for
"them," and this display is miss-

ing.

As we left the museum that
day we saw about 35 boys from
the Yeshiva of Queens and their
ebbe saying the Minchah (af-
ternoon) prayer. This, said my
wife, should be the last display.
Looking at the boys' faces and
hearing their prayers, I sec-
onded the motion. 0
