Somerset Collection
recently held a lun-
cheon benefit to
salute the Michigan Cancer
Foundation (MCF) and in-
troduce designer Barry
Kiselstein-Cord, who open-
ed an exclusive boutique in
the Troy store. More than 50
patrons attended the event
hosted by Lois Shaevsky,
Carole Larson Wendzel
and Sandy Mueller.
Mr. Kieselstein-Cord is
known for his unique
designs in jewelry, belts and
handbags. Some of the MCF
supporters included: Betty
Jean Rivkin, Jan Silver-
man, Bobbie Toll, Carol
Sole, Sue Orley, Marcia
Applebaum and Leslie
Sternberg.

DSOH BEEFIT

The Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Hall Volunteer
Council will hold a benefit
featuring soprano Dame
Kiri Te Kanawa on Nov.
18. The evening will begin
with a 6 p.m. dinner at the
Whitney and include
transportation to the concert
which begins at 8 p.m.
Following the concert
there will be an afterglow
with Dame Kiri at the
Whitney. Marjorie
Saulson is the volunteer

BRILLIANT EVENING

The 11th annual "Evening
of Brilliance" fund-raiser for
the Juvenile Diabetes Foun-
dation recently held at the
Ritz-Carlton raised $150,000
for diabetes research. More
than 500 patrons attended
the event, determined to
make a cure happen for
diabetes. Some of the people
instrumental in this year's
event included: Lauren and
Robert Liss, Irene and
Martin Bader, Helen and
Norman Wachler, Rita
and John Haddow and
Estelle and Phillip Elkus.

MPF BENEFIT

The Michigan
Pscychoanalytic Society will
feature Dr. Will Miller, a
pyschotherapist and enter-
tainer, 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at

Masonic Temple. The Hart-
ford Memorial Baptist Chur-
