Book Review

The Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center offers a variety
of events. Israeli Folk Dancing
will be taught 1 p.m Nov. 16;
there is a charge for non-mem-
bers. The Mad Hatters, a the-
ater troupe, will perform 7 p.m.
Nov. 16; they illustrate the spe-
cial needs of the elderly; there
is no charge.
A lunch and learn about
"The Origins of Jewish Mys-
ticism" is set for noon Nov.17;
Rabbi Aaron Bergman will
speak.
Chanukah projects will be
made at the Me and My
Grandchild workshop 10 a.m.
Nov. 18.
Readers Theater will con-
clude the 1993 Fall season
3:30 p.m. Nov. 21; compli-
mentary refreshments will be
served at 3 p.m. Call 661-

A docent-led tour in the
Museum/Gallery of "Quilts as
Contemporary Art" will be
held 1 p.m. Nov. 22; it will be
sign interpreted.

A new door-to-door bus
transportation is available to
those interested in attending
Monday and/or Thursday ac-
tivities at the Center on a reg-
ular basis. This is also avail-
able to regular riders for

to reserve and to receive in-
formation on geographic lim-
itations.
The Maple-Drake library
has a selection of audio books,
large-print books and a closed
circuit TV for magnifying ,
print.
The Centerline monthly
news magazine will be avail-
able on audio cassette begin-
ning in December. Volunteers
are needed to read and record
once a month. Call Adult Ser-
vices if you can volunteer, or
to request this service.
The JCC will offer a service
to connect older adults wish-
ing to fill a "grandparent" role
to children who lack a local
grandparent. There is no
charge. For information, or to
become enrolled in the pro-

man earned her undergradu-
ate degree at the University
of Michigan. She is a board
member of the Ecumenical
Institute for Jewish-Christ-
ian Studies, and Oak Park
School district Community
Health Committee.
Following Rabbi Bigman's
review, Phyllis Young will
lead a group discussion at 11
a.m.

Emanu-El
Nursery School

January enrollment at Temple
Emanu-El Nursery School is
under way for the Twos Only
class, for children age two to 2'h
years. This program is for the
youngest nursery child's first
on-my-own experience.
In addition, a Parent-Toddler
class, beginning a January, will
offer children 18 mos. to 2V2
years an opportunity to enjoy
nursery school activities with a
parent or other caring adult.
The Twos Only program will
offer half- and full-day sched-
uling options. Children do not
need to be toilet trained for this
or other nursery programs.
An enrichment class in gym-
nastics also is being offered this
winter.
