the pilot year. If the project
proves worthwhile, the fun-
ding will continue, according
to Mr. Blumberg, who ex-
presses great optimism that
the JVC will become a fix-
ture of national Jewish life.
The program already has
gained wide support from
Jewish leaders. Its rabbinic
advisory committee, chaired
by Rabbi Albert Vorspan,
senior vice president
emeritus of the Union of
American Hebrew Con-
gregations, includes three
local rabbis.
Though volunteers of any
age can apply, the program
seeks people with profes-
sional skills in specific
areas.
