New Home For INt

Mr. Scherr c''in greetings.

A New Era...A New Home. In the Book of Genesis
we learn of movement and relocation. Adam
moves...Abraham moves.. Jacob moves... Joseph
moves...always to a new residence.
And so the Jewish National Fund of Greater Detroit
recently moved to our new location on 17100 West
Ten Mile Road. Our move was a result of the mag-
nificent and most generous gift from Manny and Na-
talie Charach of their 4,000 square foot office building.
The Charachs have a long history of giving. Re-
cently, they have established the Janice Charach Ep-
stein Museum/Gallery at the Jewish Community
Center; they are the pillars of American Red Magen
David for Israel; they are supportive of JARC in es-
tablishing the Janice Charach Epstein JARC Home in
West Bloomfield; through Na'Amat U.S.A. they have
established the Children's Day Care Nursery in
Sederot; and they built a Russian Recreation Centre
in Rehovot.
JNF has been the recipient of their support for sev-
eral decades, and the JNF Charach Building was the
last of several projects established by Manny and Na-
talie including: the Janice Charach Epstein Memori-
al Forest; the Manny and Natalie Charach Panoramic
Playground; the Rose Rogow Miller Memorial Wood-
land; Irwin Charach Grove and the Madeline Berman
Grove.
This gift will enable JNF to save substantial oper-
ating costs annually.
On Sunday, October 17th, over 150 people joined
Dr. Samuel I. Cohen, Executive Vice President, JNF
of America, in thanking the Charachs when the JNF
had the dedication of their new facility. Civic leaders,
including Steve Hurite, Council President, City of
Southfield; Federation leadership including Mark
Schlussel; as well as past presidents of JNF, all assem-
bled for this Chanukas Habayis. Rabbinical leaders in-
cluding Rabbi A. Irving Schnipper, Rabbi David A.
Nelson and Rabbi Noah M. Gamze also joined in the
simcha. It is gratifying to have responsible and giv-
ing Detroiters such as The Charachs in our midst and
for this our community is blessed.
