VERTICAL & MINI BLINDS Teacher Workshops, Resource Unit Opens A Conference for Synagogue and Community School Jewish Educators will be held Oct. 31 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek. This conference is the kick-off event for the new pro- fessional enrichment program for Jewish educators sponsored by the Agency for Jewish Edu- cation. Rabbi Peretz Wolf-Prusan will give the keynote address, "The Classroom Educator Be- comes a Community Builder." Rabbi Wolf-Prusan is the edu- cator at Congregation Emanu- El in San Francisco. Workshops will be offered on community building techniques and on topics for grade levels K- 12. Participants are requested to bring a can of kosher food for Yad Ezra and pennies for MJAC. Text study sessions will be of- fered in Chevruta, the tradi- tional Jewish community building technique of learning in pairs or small groups. An in- terpreter for the hearing im- paired will be present for the morning program. The Agency for Jewish Edu- cation will reopen the Resource Center in the courtyard of the AJE building. The center offers materials that teachers need in order to be successful in the classroom, including books, videos, audio cassettes, posters, games and maps. The school services staff will be available for consultation about curriculum. In addition, there are curriculum kits and individual lesson plans on a wide variety of topics. There is a fee for some materials. A com- plete loan policy and price list will be available at the center. The Resource Center will be open as of Nov. 1.
