Chil- dren under 2 can fly free on most airlines, but they will not have an assigned seat. Before you jump at the savings, think carefully about your child's capacity for sitting still. Unless there happens to be a vacant seat next to yours, you'll have to hold your child for the entire trip. If your flight is not fully booked, consider asking for two non-contiguous seats for you and your spouse, then hope the seat in between stays empty. Many airlines ask you to wait until one month prior to departure for specific seating assignments. Make sure your row is one with an extra oxygen mask built in. (Each row has one ex- tra oxygen mask, so if two adults are taking two infants on a plane, they shouldn't sit in the same row.)
