FROM THE EDITOR

THE JEWISH NEWS

t

magazine

s editor of Style magazine, I have the opportunity to visit some of the most
beautiful homes in the metropolitan Detroit area. Just last month I visited
Arlene Selik in her elegant Tudor home. Arlene is the co-owner of Sybaris Gallery
in Royal Oak. Her home is filled with lovely art objects, many from artists repre-
sented in her gallery. While our photographer, Glenn Triest, photographed the
home, Arlene and I chatted. A photograph of us is in the middle of the page. As a
gracious hostess, she offered me some of her famous chocolate chip cookies. The
taste was great and the texture was rather unusual flat and crisp. She told me
everyone asks for the
recipe — but it's top se-
cret. Well, at least I can
share her home and
gallery with you.
Another elegant
home, designed by ar-
chitect Dirk Denison, is
on a beautiful lake in
Oakland County. Balt-
hazar Korab spent days
photographing this
home. Photographer
Beth Singer also did a
stellar job on a Wing Lake home by architects David Lubin and Dominick Tringali.
Style magazine sent photographer Gene Meadows to Traverse City to shoot a rus-
tic retreat.
To keep you in fashion for the next few months, we've featured some warm win-
ter coats and some holiday outfits. If you're planning a vacation with the children,
West Bloomfield author Ellyce Field offers some excellent travel tips. But, while
you're at home, we hope you enjoy Style.
