and the owner went fishing.
The home could be a gallery for local
artists. There are works by Roy Slade, di-
rector of Cranbrook Academy; Aris
Koutroulis, chairman of fine arts at the Cen-
ter for Creative Studies; and Al Hinton, a Uni-
versity of Michigan professor. Some of the
other artists represented include: Ellen Phe-
lan, Tom Phardell, Laura Foster Nicholson,
Laura Kinney, Toby Ott, Lymen Kipp, Gor-
don Newton and Lori Rubeling.
Denison designed the kitchen, which was
made in Oklahoma City. He also designed
the sofas, which were custom-made by Guar-
anteed Furniture Services in Berkley.
The combination of the textures in the
home, from the Australian lace wood to the
maple floors to the granite kitchen counters
and steel and onyx fireplace, melds giving this
modern home a comfortable feeling. The
owners entertain here often.
The home is minimal yet comfortable.
Modern yet warm. Simple yet complex. Man-
ageable yet complicated. And certainly, amaz-
ing. E
