gray outline, stainless-steal fronts on the Sub-
Zero refrigerator and freezer, black granite
counters and island, and Thermador com-
mercial stove and ovens in stainless steel cre-

Cabinets by Aesthetics in a gray-washed

chairs in black leather on chrome bases.
Three matching barstools at the island look
like they were rescued from old Woodward
diner. The look is completed by a chrome
"lunchroom" wastebasket and an Andy
Warhol serigraph, which Mary Epstein says
influenced the kitchen.
The Epsteins enjoy a full lower level walk-
out to the lake. A Philip Pearlstein print over-
looks the stairway going down. The wall
looking out to the lake is all glass, with French
doors square window "that are true divided
light windows," says Lubin.
A full kitchen in a beige laminate is the per-
fect setting for casual parties, and ideal for the
Epstein's two teen-age children. A large-screen
TV, a tile Arts and Crafts-style fireplace and a
large sectional in a geometric Frank Lloyd
Wright-inspired fabric in beige and blue pro-
vide indoor comfort.
Mission-style wood cocktail and end tables
continue the ambiance of the upstairs, and a
piano and pool table invite partyers downstairs.
Mary's studio, upstairs, is an artist's dream
space. Large and bright, it has wood floors,
large art storage bins, four skylights, and a
half-round window looking out the front of the
house. Lubin cleverly utilized the space above
the garage to house the studio.
The master bedroom is a respite over-
looking the lake. Deep-plum walls blend with
taupe-laminate dresser and chests. A dark-
grape area rug echoes the Ralph Lauren bed-
