The National Council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit Sec-
tion, will sponsor Fashion Spree
'93 — 13th annual sale of gen-
tly used clothing at the Michi-
gan State Fair Grounds,
Community Arts Building —
Gate 5.
The dates and times of the
sale are: Nov. 6: 10-10 pm.;
admission charged. Nov. 7-8:
noon- 7 p.m.; free admission.
Proceeds from the sale will
help support NCJW commu-
nity service projects.
The National Council of
Jewish Women and Temple
Shir Shalom will present "An
Evening with Dr. Robert
Rockaway" 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16
at Temple Shir Shalom.
Dr. Rockaway is the author
of But — He Was Good To His
Mother, the lives and crimes
of Jewish gangsters with ref-
erence to the Purple Gang of
Detroit.
A former Detroiter, Dr.
Rockaway is head of Jewish
history at Tel Aviv Universi-
ty.
There is no charge. Dr.
Rockaway will be available
for book signing after the pro-
gram.
The NCJW will host a
country western "fun raiser"
6:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Dia-
monds and Spurs, 25 S. Sag-
inaw, Pontiac.
The evening will include
drinks, food, country dancing
and instruction, valet park-
ing, favors. There is a charge.
Proceeds will help support
NCJW community service

An afternoon of fashion will
highlight Congregation Beth
Shalom Sisterhood's 28th an-
nual membership luncheon
11:45 a.m. Oct. 28 at the syna-
gogue.
Hand-painted fashions and
new hair styles will be mod-

Becker, Marilyn Cohen,
Karen Finn, Bess Gorelick,
Linda Lublin, Sophie Pearl-

Talon, Merle Solway and

Sisterhood
Dinner Planned

The sisterhood of Congregation
Beth Achim will hold a paid-up
membership dinner 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 28 at the synagogue. New
members to sisterhood will be
honored.
Following dinner there will
be a program titled "A Pre-
view to Sisterhood Day at
Book Fair," a discussion of
the books and authors who
will be coming to this year's
Book Fair at the Jewish Com-
munity Center. The program
will be presented by Joyce
Sherman, past chairperson of
the Book Fair and chairper-
son of the Beth Achim Karl
Katkowsky Library, and Ju-
dith Lawson, librarian of the
Karl Katkowsky Library.
