Call 354-6060 Midrasha Adds Fall Programs The Midrasha Center for Adult Jewish Learning will offer ad- ditional fall programs in He- brew, Jewish history, and text study, and a special communi- ty forum event Nov. 3 on Jew- ish identity, continuity and intermarriage. Unless other- wise noted, there is a tuition fee for all programs and classes; ad- vance registration is required. Starting Oct. 27, Midrasha will offer a study group con- ducted in Hebrew called "Havu- rah Ivrit." This group will meet Wednesday mornings 10 a.m.- noon at the Midrasha, using Is- raeli newspapers and other primary sources to discuss cur- rent events, politics, culture. The group will be taught by Nira Lev and Tsiona Ragowsky. "Havurah Ivrit" is designed for those who are able to converse on an advanced level. On Oct. 31 at 1 p.m., Mid- rasha will present a slide lec- ture by Professor Miriam Bodian of the University of Michigan department of history titled "Ashkenaz: The Jews of Central and Eastern Europe." This lecture is co-sponsored and hosted by Temple Emanu-El. Professor Bodian will discuss the rise and eventual fragmen- tation of the world of Ashke- nazic Jewry. Starting Nov. 1, Professor Bodian will lead a five-part slide lecture mini-course, also co- sponsored and hosted by Tem- ple Emanu-El, titled "A One- Way Love Affair? The Jews and Germany, 1780 to 1933." This series will meet on Monday evenings through Nov. 29 from 8-9:30 p.m. Also beginning Nov. 1, Midrasha and Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses will offer a four-part text study series taught by Rabbi Aaron Bergman titled 'The Binding of Memory: Akedat Yitzchak and the Jewish Conscience." This mini-course will meet at Con- gregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Mon- day nights. "Kedushat Eretz Yisrael: The Holiness of the Land of Israel" will be the subject of a three- part study series led by Rabbi Rod Glogower on consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning Nov. 2, hosted and co-spon- sored by Adat Shalom Syna- gogue. Study sessions will meet 7:30-9:00 p.m. on Nov. 2, 9 and 16. On Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m., Mid- rasha and Adat Shalom will present a special community forum event, free and open to the public, featuring Rabbi David Gordis, president of Hebrew College in Boston.
