Since 1975 Premium Tray Caterers Specialty Trays For All Occasions Living in Boston now, Fern had asked Norman to find her biological mother, Shirley Ann (Krause) Santog, longtime B'nai B'rith member in Oak Park, who was only 15 years old when she gave birth for the first time . . . While a child, Debbie was told that her sister passed on three days after birth . . . How- ever, the baby had been adopt- ed by Jean and Morris Drooker, Norman's late aunt and uncle who moved from here to Boston. After searching The Jewish News files and other resources, Norman called Fern to tell her that Shirley passed away about 10 years ago ... but that he had found Fern a new family. That's when she called Deb- bie and said, "I think we are re- lated" and came here for the memorable meeting. Fern is no longer alone .. . She now not only has a sister, Debbie ... but also three broth- ers, Howard and John Santog of Oak Park, and Ted Santog in Florida. "HAVE YOU ever heard of a kosher cheeseburger?" writes Rabbi Jack Goldman. "Never! How about a kosher pepperoni pizza? Impossible! But soon they will be realities! There are already veal cutlets, stuffed cab- bage filled with meat, chicken chow mein, Hawaiian meat- balls, and dozens of meat en- trees, all of which contain no meat — and never came from a living animal. "All are kosher and pareve, and certified by the Metropoli- tan Kashruth Council. "How did this come about? Brilliant culinary art combined with business acumen, brought together by Marty and Sandy Benson of American Kosher Gourmet in West Bloomfield (Orchard Lake Road, south of Maple Road) and Mitch Benson of American Bulk Food, also in the West Bloomfield Plaza, have created a revolution in kosher gourmet foods. "Anything you want (almost). Your favorite meat dish with all the trimmings (kugel, knishes, salads); every kind of gourmet delights in the fleishig category, made entirely from vegetable sources, kosher and pareve. "The Bensons challenge any- one to try their 'meat' dishes and compare them to the real thing. No fat, no cholesterol, very low on calories, and ab- solutely divine in taste! Is this a revolution or is it a revolu- tion?" SECOND ANNIVERSARY of their Truly Gifted store in Royal Oak is being celebrated by owners Annie Cohen and Beverly Dovitz. ITS DEFINITE .
