Arthur Lieberman

DR. ARTHUR S. LIEBER-
MAN, physician at Oakland
General Hospital, received the
Maimonides Award presented
by the Professional Health Ser-
vices division of the State of Is-
rael Bonds. This award
recognizes the leadership Dr.
Lieberman has given to help
develop the economy of the
State of Israel.

DEBRA FINKELSTEIN, has
been named Registered Dieti-
tian of the Year in Michigan by
the Michigan Dietetic Associa-
tion. Ms. Finkelstein, a gradu-
ate of Michigan State
University, is a nutrition con-
sultant in private practice in the
Farmington Hills area.

DR. PAUL B. LATTIN, clini-
cal chief of the Gershenson Ra-
diation Oncology Center, has
been appointed president of the
Michigan Society of Therapeu-
tic Radiologists.

MARK PENSLER has been
named volunteer of the month
by Space. He is a peer counselor
at Robechand High School and
a facilitator for adolescents in
Rainbows for all Children.

KELLY ElVIIVIER, of Farm-
ington Hills, a recent graduate
of Michigan State University,
has been selected to participate
in a year-long program at the
WUJS Institute in Arad, Israel.

DR. HARVEY NUSSBAUM,
ALAN LEVENSON and
DAVID GOLDIS were chosen
members of the board of the In-
ternational Men's Clubs at the
biennial convention in the
Poconos.

Professor Edward Hirsch was born in Chicago and received his Ph. D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
His poems appear regularly in a wide variety of publications including The New Yorker, The New Republic and
The Nation. Professor Hirsch has published three books of poems: For The Sleepwalkers, Wild Gratitude for
which he won the National Book Critics Circle Award, and The Night Parade. He has received a Guggenheim
Fellowship, Ingram Merrill Award and the Rome Prize from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and
Letters. Edward Hirsch is a professor of English in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston.
Professor Hirsch joins us as a Visiting Artist of the Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic Studies. He will read
and discuss his poetry and its evolution.
