Michigan Miracle Mission are
invited to attend "Peace Now:
Where Do We Go From Here?"
an educational series beginning
Oct. 25. The program, spon-
sored by the Melitz Centers for
Jewish Zionist Education and
the Jewish Federation's
Mission Involvement Com-
mittee, will be held at the Max
M. Fisher Building, 6735
Telegraph.
Melitz is an Israeli-based in-
stitute that enables partici-
pants to confront questions of
Jewish identity.
On Oct. 25, Avraham Infeld,
chairman and founder of
Melitz, will discuss "Dor L"Dor
— Jewish Continuity: A
Dialogue Between the Gene-
rations" at 7:30 p.m. The pro-
gram will be repeated at 7:30
a.m. and noon Oct. 26.
Mr. Infeld, who addressed
the Michigan Miracle Mission's
Kabbalat Shabbat service at
the Western Wall, was the first
community emissary (shalisch)
in the United States. He is di-

Klein, director of theater in
Melitz' Education Department,
will lead a discussion on
"Creating Jewish Culture:
Jewish Issues Through the
Writer's Eyes."
She is a playwright-in-resi-
dence at the B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundation at the University
of California at Berkeley.
Rabbi Daniel Levine, vice
chairman of Melitz, will discuss
"'Me Jewish/Arab Conflict: The
Struggle for Gods Over the
Promised Land" Jan. 17 and 18,
1994.
A political scientist at Tel
Aviv and Bar-Ilan universities,
Rabbi Levine was ordained at
the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan
Theological Seminary at
Yeshiva University.

The Silvers

Anne Gonte Silver, president of
Metro Detroit ZOA, and her hus-
band, Dr. I. Walter Silver, will
be the recipients of the Zionist
Organization of America's 1993
Justice Louis D. Brandeis
Award Nov. 1 at the Balfour
Concert at the Fox Theatre.
The honorees will endow a
physics laboratory at the
Weisman Science Center in Kfar
Silver, the Zionist Organization
of America's educational center
near Ashkelon, Israel. -
An attorney and civic and

community leader, Ms. Silver
was honored by the Detroit
Zionist Federation in March
1993 as Zionist Woman of the
Year and was cited by Metro
Detroit ZOA for her leadership
as chairperson of successive
Balfour celebrations.
She served as national vice
president of the ZOA and a
member of its national executive
committee; and former president
of the Maimonides Medical
Society's Women's Auxiliary.
She is a board member of the
Jewish National Fund, Israel
Bonds' Women's Division and
has been associated with
Women's American ORT.
Dr. Silver, a graduate of the
Wayne State University School
of Medicine, was honored by the
Michigan Medical Society in
recognition of "50 years of fam-
ily practice" and was cited by the
Detroit Medical Society and the
American and Michigan acade-
mies of family practice for his
contributions to the medical pro-
fesion. A life-long Zionist and
board-member of Metro Detroit
ZOA, he served as delegate to
a number of national ZOA con-
ventions in this country and in
Israel.
