A "how-to" symposium on the
preservation, protection and
promotion of the Jewish family
will be the focus of the 46th an-
nual Institute of the Jewish
Federation Women's Division.
The meeting, which will feature
Dr. Ron Wolfson, a pioneer in
innovative family education,
will take place 9:30 a.m.-2:15
p.m. Oct. 27 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
Director and past dean of ed-
ucation at the Whizin Institute
for Jewish Family Life at the
University of Judaism, Dr.
Wolfson wrote The Art of Jew-
ish Living, a series of books on
the celebration of Jewish holi-
days in the home, and A Time
to Mourn, A Time to Comfort.
The University of Judaism is
a fully-accredited institution of
higher Jewish learning, in-
cluding a four-year undergrad-
uate liberal arts school, four
graduate schools and two na-
tional "think tanks" on Jewish
policy and the Jewish future.
Registration will begin at
9:30 a.m., and the program will
start at 10 a.m. •
Babysitting is available for
children ages 2'h and older, and
a sign language interpreter will
be present.
There is a charge for Insti-
tute, and lunch will be served.

Israel will host a luncheon and
lecture, "Stress Management
Through Music." The luncheon
and program, featuring Zina
Shaykhet, Jackie Grekin, and
Elaine Greenberg, will be at
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses noon Oct. 14.
Three women have blended
talents to create a new concept
in stress management. The
commentary and music will
demonstrate how music reduces
tension and relieves stress as it
sooths and offers a rest from
pressures.
Dr. Grekin is an assistant
professor of clinical psychology
at Michigan State University,
College of Osteopathic Medi-
cine. Her specialty is helping
individuals cope with the prob-
lems of daily living.
Zina Shaykhet has been a
music teacher, organist and ac-
companist at Temple Israel. She
holds a master's degree in piano
performance and music theory
from the Moscow Conservatory
of Music.
Elaine Greenberg studied
private voice at the McPhail
School of Music in Minneapolis
and continued her education at
the University of Minnesota
where she majored in voice and
music. Ms. Greenberg super-
vises four music teachers and
1600 students as the music co-
ordinator of Temple Israel Re-
ligious School.
